Brydon's Bay Trail
Location: Old Portage Road… turn left from Muskoka Beach Road onto Brydon's Bay Road… Travel 2 km and turn left onto Old Portage Road.
Length: 2.3 km

Description: Family Friendly trail wanders through majestic red and white pine
and quiet contemplation.
Close enough to Lake Muskoka to hear the gulls but also to observe the many woodland creatures.

Chamberlain Trail
Location: Trail-head is at the junction of Muskoka Road North and the Chamberlain Road approximately 1.7 km north of the Gravenhurst Post Office at the town centre.
Length: 3 km

Description: Trail features several marshy sections that have a gothic appearance
as well as large rock ridges that are great to explore.
Close enough to town to hear the Segwun whistle but
sunny meadows are perfect for a secluded picnic.
Although this is a return trail, an extended residential walk can
be found by turning right on Brydon's Bay Road.
The contrasts of this trail are astounding as it travels from peaceful forests and craggy rock cuts
to well-manicured lawns and flowerbeds. The return trek to the trailhead features a
walk through an open meadow and a hard-track hardwood forest.


Devils Gap Trail
Location: Trailhead is found 6.9 km west of Gravenhurst on Hwy 169.
Turn left onto Snider's Bay Road… travel 1.3 km to Muriel Crescent to the Trailhead on the right.
Length: 6km

Descriptions: Although the name "Devil's Gap" refers to a cleft in the natural rock formation,
local folklore has a different story.

Legend has it a farmer who was traveling the old colonization road with a wagon and a team of oxen became stuck.
After many attempts to free the wagon, the farmer gave up and went for help.
When he returned to the site, the wagon and oxen had disappeared without a trace...

Great photo opportunities such as beaver dams, expanses of Canadian Shield, vast marshland and open meadows.

Hahne Farm Trail
Location: trailhead has entrances off Bethune Drive and Pinedale Road
Length: 2-5 km with a shorter loop available
Facilities: parking at McDonald's and roadside parking on Pinedale
Type of Trail: hiking, snowshoeing
Surface Type: earth path, wood chip

Description: The heady perfume of sunbaked pine needles, fern, birch groves, wild mushrooms and sumach.
All this and more on a series of loops that traverse
a mix of hard and soft wood forest.
Stunning ridge view overlooking a marshland.

Kahshe Barrens Trail
Location: Trailhead is at the Muskoka Tourism Information Centre on Hwy 11 North
Length: Loops up to 4 km

Surface Type: earth path, wood-chip

Descriptions: One of the most naturally preserved and rugged trails in the Gravenhurst system.

Consisting of two loops - Casey and Kadz.
Casey Loop is hilly and gives a great view of the Beaver Pond at lookout Ridge.
Kadz Loop is similar in terrain but features a picturesque stream.


Old Stone Road Trail
Location: Take Hwy 169 from Gravenhurst to North Muldrew Lake Road.
Follow North Muldrew Lake Road to the Trailhead…distance to Trailhead is long so keep driving!
Length: 6 km

Description: An original colonization road, this historical route was once an alternative spring route between Bala and Gravenhurst.
Imagine the wagon traffic of bygone times while strolling among the pine and spruce
that grow along one of Muskoka's original roads.
Paths of stone mark the trail and huge weathered boulders mark time past depending on the trail chosen.

Buck Wallow Cycling Centre
Location: Turn right from Hwy 11 North onto Reay Road. Buckwallow is the name of the Trailhead located on the right.
Please check in at the KOA as much of the trail is on their property. Maps are available there too.
Length: 17 km depending on the loop
Facilities: parking, comfort stations, washrooms, warm-up huts, ski-rentals
Type of Trail: hiking, x-country skiing, biking & snowshoeing
Surface Type: earth path, wood-chip

Description: Part of the trail is on the historical Peterson Road and some of the old corduroy road is still visible.
Families will appreciate the well-marked pathways that are wide enough to
accommodate bikes and strollers. There are six trails of various lengths
from which to choose. Contrasts abound as marshland flora and fauna give way
to meadow flowers. The KOA acres are home to blue herons, kingfishers and hawk. Moose and bear have been seen in the area too.
To avoid disturbing nesting birds, please stay on the trail.
