World's Largest Muskoka Chair
 |
Located at Gravenhurst Home Hardware 1170 Muskoka Road South
This returning landmark representing ‘all that is Muskoka’ is taking its rightful place at the arch know as the Gateway to Muskoka in Gravenhurst. The original chair, built 15 years ago was destroyed in the tornado that ripped through Gravenhurst in August 2009. The new chair took over two months to complete and is significantly larger than the original. Constructed by Rob Clark of Gravenhurst Home Hardware it has been built using boat building techniques and as a result is even stronger. The previous chair was the sight of at least one marriage proposal, featured in the movie ‘One Week’ and the focal point of countless photographs. The new chair will continue the tradition and thanks to digital photography, will also feature an ongoing photo contest.
